➥Guinean fintech startup YMO has raised $3 million in seed funding.
Guinean fintech startup YMO has raised $3.2 million in seed funding from a group of venture capital funds including Breega and INCO Ventures. The investment represents one of the largest sums ever raised by a Guinean start-up.
YMO aims to provide financial inclusion for African populations on the continent and in the diaspora of France and Europe, which it says are excluded from the traditional financial system.

Nigeria has taken a bold step to become the first African country to adopt open banking regulations. This move, approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria on March 7, 2023, will set the tone for the banking industry and encourage new forms of collaboration and competition.
The advent of open banking has opened up exciting possibilities for fintech innovation. This practice enables banks to share customer data with third-party service providers such as fintechs and mobile money operators, who can then leverage this information to create innovative solutions that benefit consumers.
Nigeria now joins the likes of the UK and Australia, which have already adopted similar systems.

California crypto banking giant Silvergate Capital announced Wednesday it is ending operations and liquidating its Silvergate Bank, sending its stock price plummeting, following a months-long downward spiral for the embattled crypto lender.
Some of Silvergate's prominent crypto institutional clients included;Coinbase, Binance US, Gemini, Paxos, Anchorage, Bitstamp and BlockFi.

Expected to begin in March 2023, the MasterCard Artist Accelerator will prepare 5 emerging artists - such as musicians, DJs, producers with the tools, skills, and access to forge their own musical paths in the digital economy.The program is intended to connect select artists from around the world with notable mentors and a dynamic fanbase as they learn and create in Web3.
